Featuring the water base Lexan paint by Faskolor counter top grip mat from my local hardware store.

This seems to be the latest rave in painting r/c's...so here is how you do it. Get some anti slip counter top mat with the pattern shown in the picture ,Faspearl Charcoal & Faskolor Black paint. You can mix your own metalic grey/black, but I have found the Charcoal to be perfect for this application because of the metalic qualities.

This particular top has a coating of liquid mask, so it is difficult to see the removed area in the picture. I placed the mat over the area making sure that it is horizontal to the truck ....sometimes I tape the ends down so it will not move, it is tacky so it holds fairly well. Spray a good coat of the Charcoal and carefully lift the mat.

You should see an effect like the one shown in the picture. Now you can paint the black to finish the effect and continue with your paint scheme. I suggest painting your dark colors first to avoid the paint bleeding through.

As you can see the metalic Charcoal paint will only reflect well in direct light...very similar to real carbon fiber.

This is a very creative effect that you can give your r/c, but please use it sparingly...it is great for a small area or something to accent a design....not the whole thing. Just my $.02.

The finished product:

The truck is actually very bright with the flourescent colors..my digital camera can only pick up so much. Notice that the carbon fiber is very subtle...this looks the best in my opinion.
