Featuring the water base Lexan paint by Faskolor and a body from Bolink...yes they make a top for the RC10GT, probably the most low profile that I have seen. I also used a liquid masking on this one.

I assume that you read a few of the other paint "how-to's" so I will skip the washing and all.

Using the waterbase paint again, but this time I used Liquid Masking Film from Bob Dively Model Aircraft, Inc. You should be able to find it near the Pactra paints at your local hobby store.

I painted the masking on with a paint brush...it dries clear so you cannot see it in this picture, but you will understand below. Make sure you apply it thick...otherwise you will have a difficult time removing it later.

First I highlighted the drip design with black so there will be better contrast...a little bit of a shadow effect. Then I started with Faspearl Green and faded it from the very front to the edge of the doors, then Fasescent Blue...Fasescent Purple and a little black on the tailgate. This paint blends extremely well to produce some very smooooth fades. Oh....I hand painted the silver roll bar.

Time to remove the Liquid Mask...I made the mistake of tearing it off before the previous colors were compeltely cured...so I got a few scratches that I had to touch up. It took longer that I thought to get every piece...but this did have alot of little detail.

Gave it a heavy coat of Neon Yellow...speeded up the drying process with a hair dryer, then applied the white.

Remove the final paint mask across the bottom of the truck.

Notice the normal masking tape for the windows...I have not had any problems with the FASKOLOR paints seaping underneath ruining the sharp edge.

Because the red pigment is so strong, I made a little overspray shield with my masking tape...otherwise the red might bleed through the white and neon yellow. It took several coats to make it red...pink will not do. I try to put a bright color across the botom of my paint jobs to make a clear place for stickers & to make the angle of the truck easily visibly from a distance. Helps out the jumping & landing. When all is completly dry I gave it a backing coat of Pactra Metalic Silver to help the waterbase paint last longer from Nitro feul spillage.

The finished product:

This one came out very bright....got many compliments at the local track with it. The Bolink top fits very low on the frame...makes it look a little like the new Losi XXXT. I had to remove the little front plastic bumper from the front of the truck to fit the top down low...but that was just extra weight anyway. Again the Faskolor paint produced smooth fades and bright colors.
